I thought I would start a grand undertaking and do our own version of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We will follow the same rules as the real HOF and see what we can come up with. We will begin as if it is 1986. An artist will have to have been around for 25 years before they are eligible. The real HOF inducts 5 artists every year. The exceptions were the first two year of 1986 and 1987 when they got things started with 10 and 15 inductees. For our purposes we will induct 7 artists for 1986, 1987, and 1988, then 5 every year thereafter.

To begin, for 1986 the voting will be open for 1 week (until afternoon of November 20). I will put up a list of eligibles not all inclusive, but pretty lengthy. After a few years, I will take artists off the eligible list if they are getting no support at all. All I would ask is let's keep it to the rock era. If an artist began their carer before 1945, they are not eligible (they have their own category in the real Hall--Rock Pioneer). If you want to vote for an artist not on the eligible list, feel free, as long as they began their career in 1960 or before. If it is a big name artist, then most likely I did not forget them, they just aren't eligible yet.

Each year you can vote for your top 10 artists. The 5 (or 7) with the most votes will be inducted into the CRF Hall of Fame. Please only vote once per voting cycle.

For 1986 your eligibles are:
Tony Bennett
The Four Freshmen
The Clovers

That's a ton of artists I know, but after a few years it will be whittled down substantially. Again vote for 10, order doesn't matter. On Sunday November 20 the top 7 will be the inaugural inductees to the CRF Rock and Roll HOF and we can move on to 1987. Have fun!

The first year of voting will likely go by the book as the number of huge stars is enormous. It will get much more interesting a little further in when the very obvious Hall of Famers are out of the way.

Muddy Waters was active from 1941 and John Lee Hooker from 1943 so they are ineligible according to your criteria. Why are they on the list?
