I'm a bit of a snob, so I don't necessarily have a problem with the Hall of Fame...Besides, I'm also pretty well aware that a lot of my favorite bands are never going to make the cut. Still, I have a problem with a few exclusions, like:

Captain Beefheart
Warren Zevon
Gram Parsons
Lou Reed
The New York Dolls
T. Rex

OK, I'll say it: The Monkees should be in. They had three #1 singles and four #1 albums. In 1967 they were the biggest selling act of the year (outselling the Beatles and the Stones combined). Every pop act to come down the pike since them, from the Bay City Rollers to the Jonas Brothers, owe them a tip of the hat. Their hits are still heard on oldies radio everyday. Their songs are used on TV shows and movies. No less a "Rolling Stone" honk than Cameron Crowe used "The Porpoise Song" in his film "Vanilla Sky". The Sex Pistols who, let's face it, were every bit as prefabricated , had the good humor to admit it by covering "(I'm not your) Stepping Stone". And I haven't even mentioned their Emmy winning TV series or their cult classic film "Head". If you're going to penalize them for not playing the instruments on some of their songs, then how are the Beach Boys and the Byrds in the Hall? And while we're on the subject, how did Percy Sledge get in? I love "When a Man Loves a Woman", but, come on, it's one song!

I wanted to aknowledge this post.

I agree Mr. Dobolina, Mr. Bob Dobolina

:cheers2

I think it does matter who is in and who is not.

I think it does matter that great artists like Deep Purple, Rush, Heart, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and other deserving artists continue to be snubbed by an institution that was supposedly created to honor the great music and legacy of artists in "Rock and Roll" history.

It is very insulting that the important musical contributions that so many of these artists have made continue to be ignored by the RnR HOF.

It is unacceptable that these artists are continually shown a complete lack of respect by a so called "Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame".

It does matter and the RnR HOF should be criticized and called out on it.

Ok but give a real reason why it actually matters that some shitty little building lets bands in it or not?

I personally could give a **** about it all. If there wasn't a rock n roll hall of fame there would be no bickering about something so stupid honestly. Yea it sucks that the mainstream media does not recognize some great artists, but then again who really gives a **** what they think when they press artists that they do today?

I would only induct a few of those.

There's no way Pantera should get in until Cowboys From Hell passes the eligibility point. Nobody's gonna induct them based on "Metal Magic." ;p

The Monkees - These guys should of been there a long time ago. These guys get criticisized for being a manufactured pop band from a TV-show but they aren't less or anymore manufactured than something like the supremes or the temptations. Atleast they learned to play their instruments and write their own music. Michael Nesmith is also a country rock pioneer along the likes of Gram Parsons, Hillman, and Ron Elliot. They were an influence on later bands like Big-Star and Cheap Trick, plus the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame has included 2 of their songs in their 500 songs that shaped rock list. I don't see the point of denying their place among the pantheon...
