I can play a couple nirvana songs so far, so I'm looking for a couple songs with fairly easy but cool riffs and stuff. I'm no pro on guitar yet but im not too shabby.

I can play all apologies, come as you are, and heart shaped box right now.

I
tom petty songs, and if you like playing heavier electric stuff look at later albums like wildflowers and echo, some of the riffs are a bit challenging but not really, plus the mike cambells playing usually proves to be learnable but hard, but still incredibly cool sounding

Some really easy starter guitar songs I use with my students:

Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Lep
Wish You Were Here - Floyd
Blackbird - Beatles / Sarah Mclaughlin
Fly By Night and Limelight - Rush
Don't Fear The Reaper - BOC
Highway To Hell - ACDC

I'll be posting more soon.

do you know all your open and bar chords yet?? if not I would think you should learn those first, power chords wind up being the first three notes of a bar chord, but i fyou learn your bars first you'll have stronger and better sounding power chords

There are a ton of easy metallica songs out there to play. Give those a whirl.
