Jimmy Page for me, Hendrix was amazing, but I like Page's playing better.

Perhaps not a lot of people know this, but a little unknown singer which appeared around 1965 and had an album in 1966 which goes by the name of Crispian St. Peters which had an album called "Follow Me" - and is best known for "The Pied Piper" and "You Were On My Mind" had a little help from Jimmy Page on that album as well. The Track which I think Page has his mark on maybe "Jilly Honey" - where this Loud Electric comes into play! :-D I'm can't be 100% sure about this though cause it just states that Jimmy Page can be heard on that album - he maybe on a few other tracks as well - though again I'm unsure cause there's a number of Guitarists featured on that album! :-o

I got some other Jimmy Page stuff from his brief period with The Yardbirds and again it's quite dazzling! I just love his work on "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago". But in terms of who was the better guitarist for the Yardbirds, I felt Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck & Jimmy Page were on par - but Page is different with more of a hint of acid to his style. Clapton & Beck can be well compared to which have that Blue's style to their work! Clapton perhaps evolved into something else, but that was later in a period which is beyond the scope of this section! ;-)

But one name which I thought deserves a mention is Roger McGuinn of The Byrds. Their use of a Rickenbacker on those early Byrds songs is quite remarkable. I'm perhaps the only smuck to mention this, but it's interesting.

Mike Pender from the Searchers and Glenn Campbell should also be acknowledged as well! :-D

^^I agree, Robert Fripp, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Steve Howe are all much better than Ron Wood on guitar.

oooo....we almost forgot Steve Hackett - Genesis...he has done some mind boggling stuff.

Highly underated IMO....check out Dancing Out With The Moonlit Knight, he really shines on that track.

I liked Steve Hackett as well, especially when he was in early Genesis when they were a Prog/rock band, his solo albums didn't really inspire me that much though.

Unfortunately Steve Hackett wasn't a part of the 60s line-up for Genesis - Anthony Phillips was the bloke on Guitar! :-D

Roger McGuinn is an incredible guitar player with his Ric.
