Mind you this reply mainly comes from people who often give me shit for some of the bands I listen to lol.

I'm sorry if you feel this way. I wasn't trying to single you out, and I said so, over the Metallca / Lou Reed thing. I've just seen so many Metallica fans trash Lou Reed, calling him no-talent, hasbeen, washed-up, nobody, crap, etc... just because he's not metal, and I was basically venting about metalheads who can't appreciate or acknowledge music outside of their genre... sorry if you took it personally, I'd already seen about 30 people on various boards who are Metallica fans who were frowning on this project because Lou isn't metal.

I can't speak for anyone on any other board (or even anyone here) as I haven't seen people ripping this project because Lou isn't metal. I'm a big Metallica fan and have been almost since the beginning and I'll tell you that from my point of view, I have zero interest in this project because I flat out don't like Lou Reed. has nothing to do with him not being metal, it has to do with my dislike for anything and everything I've ever heard him do. If Metallica was doing this with Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson, Elton John or Prince... I'd have more interest.

So, it's not a metal thing for me, it's a Lou Reed sucks thing for me. (just my opinion).

Yeah I have gotten that over the years as well. I don't care what anyone says about it, the Black Album is solid from start to finish. I know some don't like the last couple of songs, but I still dig all of it. Sure it was way overproduced (check the making of that album to see how many bazillion feet of tape they had in the can when it came time to mixing the album), but it sounds great. Not to mention, they were freakin' incredible on tour that year.

Oh absolutely, the one issue I have though is the last 2 tracks on the album, seemed like filler to me and were pretty average tracks.

I would love to see Metallica play with Tony Bennett! :heheh: He's put out two albums over the past couple years with nothing but duets with well known singers so oddly enough it might not be as far of a cry as it should be. :D

^^^ I agree, I think that would be a really fun/cool album. I've got nothing but respect for Bennett, being one of the few crooners left hanging around. I dunno how Metallica and Bennett would work out, but if they can do something with Lou Reed, I'd say they could collaborate with just about anyone. :D

I would rather see Metallica try to do an album (on their own)to make up for ST Anger and Death Magnetic, St Anger speaks for itself and Magnetic while solid it had horrible production.

Metallica fans or metal fans in general tend to use a lot of revisionist history when talking about Metallica.

I don't remember anybody griping about The Black Album back when it first came out. Not a word.

Yes, there was plenty of backlash for Load, Reload and then the Napster thing. Personally my opinion is that some of these things soured people on Metallica enough that they decided to go back in time and claim that The Black Album is when Metallica started to suck and in recent years, I've seen people start to claim that it started all the way back with And Justice For All.

Again, nobody had a bad word to say about those albums upon release but several years later, it became fashionable to go back as far as possible into Metallica's catalog to bitch about their earlier records just because they were unhappy with Load, the Napster business, whatever.
