Death is always tragic, no matter the circumstances, especially when it comes to someone so young. The poor girl had her whole life before her, and now she's gone. She had a family, friends, and people that loved her. I'm very sorry for their loss.

It's real easy to point the finger and look down at other people...Especially when they belong to a group who it's still fully socially acceptable to treat as less than human. Everyone has troubles, and everyone needs something to help them get through the day. Some people choose healthier routes, and others, unfortunately, go down a very dangerous path. None of us are perfect, and there's no reason to judge or condemn the fallen.

May she rest in peace.

I've never listened to her tunes as a choice though some have played them for me. I was aware of her self destructive notoriety. In the end, it got her. It's unfortunate but not surprising. All I can say is that may she rest in peace along with condolences to her surviving family.

It's sad, but who didn't see this coming a mile away? I think this story will last a lot longer in the U.K. than it will here. Musically, she was a bit of a one-hit wonder. However, her drug and alcohol fueled escapades made her a TMZ staple. That's what she was mostly known for here in the States.

What's sad is her musical achievements were overshadowed by her drug preferences and social life and she became more of a tabloid staple than a credible artist such as the likes of Lindsay Lohan. Regardless she was truly talented and it's a shame to see people succumb to addictions. I can't say I'm surprised though. May she rest in peace.

I knew only her few songs but this is such a great loss. I respected her for her voice and her revival of 40s jazz music, but her crazy rock 'n roll lifestyle led her to where she is now. RIP Amy

Watching a little of the BBC a while ago and they were saying her last concert in Belgrade was a disaster, she was mumbling and forgetting the words to her songs and was booed off the stage. I hadn't heard about that until today, but it does show that she was still in the clutches of her addiction.

I do expect the autopsy to conclude she died of an overdose, even though the police are cautioning against jumping to conclusions it just fits the pattern of her behavior.

Very tragic.

I was just hopping on the highway at around 12:30 heading to Toronto when I heard. What a bummer drive that was. Didn't feel like listening to any music.

I had just recently discovered her music and I was really hoping she could pull herself together.

RIP Amy.

And I don't think she was totally at fault for what happened to her. The scumbags that hang out on the fringes of the music business are more to blame in my eyes.

I'm glad most of the news outlets are posting nice pictures of her.

BTW. I've been watching CNN for the last hour or so and they haven't mentioned her death once.
