1. Do you share any similarities when it comes to musical taste?
I share way more taste with my Mom than my dad. My mom listens to awesome music like Black Sabbath, Molly Hatchet, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, etc. and my dad listens to Justin Bieber, rap on the radio, and one of his favorites is Britney Spears. Yuck.
2. What are some artists you have introduced your parents to, or that they have introduced to you (but both ended up actually liking)?
My mom doesn't really listen to good recent music, only good retro music so I don't really introduce her to much that she likes. I just don't even try with my Dad one because I don't like him and two because he listens to rap which I don't listen to much of. My Mom, however, did introduce me to a bunch of bands and artists that I like such as Molly Hatchet and Quiet Riot which I absolutely love.

My mum passed away in 1988, she listened to pop music, mainly what was in the charts at the time. Dad has always been into rock, so I grew up hearing the likes of The Nice, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin, Judas Priest & AC/DC blasting out (he always cranked the volume right up, much to mum's delight - don't think she was overly into his taste in music!) He's still rocking away now as a 62 year old - he's always off seeing local rock bands at clubs and pubs, usually two or three a week. His birthday's coming up so for one of his pressies I've ordered him Airborne's first album, since he's a big fan of AC/DC I thought he might like them. I (and Sox) have got him into a few bands and artists, it's usually heavy rock that he goes for although he does like some blues. Likewise when he discovers bands we don't know he'll tell us to check them out or make CDs up for us.
One big disappointment is I've failed to get my dad into Muse, whenever I play him any he says the singer sounds like a woman :& Oh well at least he likes Metallica :)

The first album I ever owned was CCR Green River, which my Dad brought home from Vietnam, he used to listen to some pretty cool stuff, The Beatles, Box Tops & CCR. My Mom was & still is a big Elvis fan. Both of 'em now-a-days like old school country like Johnny Cash & Merle Haggard. So yeah my folks & I have a lot in common when it comes to music. Now my kids & I well that's a different story, except for my youngest daughter she has very good taste in music from a little hep from her dad ha ha.

My dad died 16 years ago and he was in his seventies. He wasn't really a music fan at all. I do remember he liked Bing Crosby but never owned any albums.

My mum is 90 and loves music especially classical, musicals and opera. She also loves Queen! :heheh:

^^^ That's great Snowblue :) My Mum will probably still be listenting to Led Zepp when she is 90 :heheh:

That's one cool mom! My mom thinks the likes of Toby Keith and Dierks Bentley are God. :bonk:

I DID get her into Led Zeppelin for about .5 seconds a couple weeks back. We were in the car and No Quarter came on and she started tapping her foot and bobbin' her head a little and I felt as if I'd achieved some grand feat. The funny thing is she was alive back in those days and I'm the one that likes it and she's listening to songs like "Do You Want Fries With That?" by Cowboy Joe Schmoe  :grinthumb

1. Do you share any similarities when it comes to musical taste?
Yes (this is with my mother)! We do listen to pop and rock. Anything from Lily Allen to Lady Gaga, to Powderfinger and album's that has a variety of artists on them. We have a box which is the communal CD collection between both of us.

2. What are some artists you have introduced your parents to, or that they have introduced to you (but both ended up actually liking)?
I haven't introduced hardly anything to her in the past year or so.

3. If your parents have passed on, what are some songs/artists that remind you of their time on earth?
Well with my father being the music collector in the family from old vinyls to CD's, he didn't show me too much as a kid. All I remember was him wanting me to stay away from his collection so I didn't put my grubby kid hands on them :D

1. Do you share any similarities when it comes to musical taste?
Yes, many. They raised me on classic rock. That's the best thing they gave me - well, that and life, of course. Eagles, Beatles, Zeppelin, CCR, Stones, Kinks and so many others. I can't imagine what I would be listening to now and how much differnet my life would be. Music is a big part of it.
2. What are some artists you have introduced your parents to, or that they have introduced to you (but both ended up actually liking)?
My mum was clueless about metal until I turned her onto it. Namely hair metal; Def Leppard, Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, etc. I also got here into Black Sabbath/Ozzy, Deep Purple, Metallica, Megadeth and oddly, Eminem. :D My mum loves Marvin Gaye, Sly Stone and Al Green. She introduced me to Soul and R&B.
3. If your parents have passed on, what are some songs/artists that remind you of their time on earth?
My dad died when I was 14. Anything sung/written by John Lennon reminds me of him. Lennon was his hero. :uh:
