Both VH1 and MTV forgot what they were supposed to do - broadcast music, not dating shows or Jackass.

The dating shows part is what really annoys me the most about VH1 and MTV nowadays. All these corny, unrealistic reality dating shows are becoming too much. I barely even watch MTV anymore because I would much rather just stream music from my ipod or last.fm. Much better time spending.

Didn't mean to go off topic, just something I wanted to comment on.

I personally prefer Storytellers because of something Kurt Cobain once said, and I'm positive that I'm misquoting it but it went along the lines of "All of these people treat the show like this big stadium rock concert only with acoustic instruments." and it really should have been treated like something else like what Nirvana did with it. They made it much more intimate. Storytellers is much more personal as a whole because I've seen more than a handful of musicians cry on that show, whether while reminiscing on something as they told a story or during a song itself. I mean, you can watching an acoustic performance other places but when you actually learn where a song came from it seems so much deeper to me.

MTV Unplugged was very popular back in the 90's.

I didn't even know both shows still existed.

MTV Unplugged - I remember seeing...

Allman Brothers Band
Aerosmith
Eric Clapton
Paul McCartney
Neil Young
Soul Asylum
Cranberries
Lenny Kravitz
Rod Stewart
Bob Dylan

VH1 Storytellers, I only remembers seeing...

The Black Crowes
Jackson Browne
Tom Petty
Billy Joel
John Fogerty
Ringo Starr
ZZ Top

So, I'd give the edge to MTV Unplugged.

One of the few good things about MTV.

Love the one from 2001 with Electric Light Orchestra featuring Jeff Lynne, hasn't been seen since then, wish they would show it again!

Does either station even show their respective program anymore? I remember Pearl Jam did a Storytellers a few years ago. Do they make new eps? I know Paramore did an Unplugged but I'm not sure if it was ever even shown on MTV.

In any case that's not really what the poll was about. I still honestly can't imagine Storytellers being better than Unplugged, so I'd be appreciative if someone could try and help me see the light. I've barely even seen any Storytellers, are the performances really all that great or is it just the exposition that makes it appealing? What would you guys consider the all-time best Storytellers episode?
