Re: Physical Graffiti

excellent review! Physical Graffiti is one of my fave's from the Mighty Zepp. My personal favorite off this album is Kashmir, a very captivating song.

This is one of the best quality double albums your money can buy. The choices to be so diverse in the music only catapulted Led Zeppelin to a higher fame :)

All 6 of Led Zeppelin's albums that have been released thus far are monsters......

Re: Physical Graffiti

Very solid and well thought out review my friend. :grinthumb

This is also prolly my favorite Zep album overall. As you stated... great diversity, showing the band at it's most mature and engaging level. This, in my mind, is their "Exile On Main St." in that regard.

And I even like "In The Light." :D Nice job!
Thanks TUИEZ. That is a good parallel actually.

Agreed Magic... Glad you liked it. Most Zeppelin fans feel they reached their zenith with "PG" and the five night engagement at Earls Court was the pinnacle of their onstage work. After those events, the odd mishaps started to occur and the song never remained the same.

Re: Physical Graffiti

I think Pagey was proud of the cultural influences on the album too. In the Light has sort of a mystical/otherwordly sound to it IMO. I always feel like I'm on Mars or something when I hear it. :heheh:

But I can see why you wouldn't like that song particulary. It's a little choppy and doesn't have the greatest flow to it.
I have to be objective or my review would end up as fluff in some respect. I think you nailed what influences my reluctance about the track. The opening notes by Jones sounds like those "whale mating calls" you hear on Animal Planet. Distinctive...

Glad you enjoyed the review...

Re: Physical Graffiti

Great write up.

I've been listening to it a little more since you suggested to it to me last month.

ILJP would probably slap me if I was within striking distance, but I get bored with Zeppelin really quick. Sometimes I can't even make it through an album before switching to something else. But having said that, I do like them; they just make it easy for my mind to wander.

Thanks. I don't listen to them all the time but nary a month when I don't at least once or twice maybe three. It's always good to experience other bands and artists.

It makes you appreciate all music more and THE group you are heavily invested in the most.

Re: Physical Graffiti

Very good review.

One of my favorites is Night Flight. Always good for a very loud sing along.

Kashmir is widely considered as THE centerpiece of the set. If you play word association with Graffiti most likely that track would go with it.

You know I might try that with my friends after a few pitchers of ale. That might be something new! :D

Thanks to both of you gents.

Not really. Not everyone enjoys Zeppelin, and I understand that. S'all good. :grinthumb
