Interesting, doesn't surprise me he preferred pen and paper to e-mail, but I have to believe he would have enjoyed the new technology we have at our fingertips now as well.

I am not interested in buying his book, my passion is for his music both with the Beatles and his own recordings.

The lobby of the Ritz hotel.
I cried when he passed away, and I wasn't even born yet.

He was a uniquely brilliant personality, an extraordinary songwriter, and one of the most influential persons to ever have walked the face of this earth. If he were only alive today .... my god, the things he'd remark about the way society's gone down the shitter.

Where's John when we need him?

His philosophy and music is still with us Lady...and the fact he can reach out from his grave and still affect people in a positive way speaks volumes about him.

I guarantee that John would have had an opinion about all kinds of world events, many modern artists get criticized heavily for speaking out, I wonder if John would suffer the same fate with the barracudas in the tabloid/news media of today.(I almost hesitate to use the word "news" at all anymore, with a couple of exceptions it has become a shadow of itself and no longer an honorable profession.)

Totally agree.

I think Lennon would have even more enemies today in the US government and in the US media than he did during the 1970's.

Imagine (no pun intended) if Lennon was alive during the Bush presidency. I think he would be actively involved in speaking out against Bush's war's and domestic policies.

Lennon would have enemies like Fox News and the rest of the right-wing media machine in the US. And surely, the Bush administration would have done something to silence Lennon's voice.

But despite all of that, Lennon would have been on the front lines, speaking out, involved in anti-war activities, etc....

In the movie, the US vs John Lennon, a great movie by the way, Gore Vidal says something that defines Lennon perfectly.

Vidal said that "while Nixon and Bush represent death, Lennon represented Life."

That is a perfect definition of Lennon's artistry and humanity.

I never saw that movie TH, but I agree Vidal's quote is right on target. John saw the big picture and the potential of what people can do in a positive way, whilst others were content with their own smaller agenda.

I think Phil Spector was sort of a bad pick as a producer for Lennon, I think he would do better with a good arranger producer like George Martin.. Jack Douglas did great on Double Fantasy, they are the only..... "Modern" sounding Lennon recordings... although my heart would have preffered a Beatle reunion, and some new songs like Norwegian Wood and Strawberry fields... I sort of Imagine if he had lived.. I think of Peter Gabriel and all those Sledgehammer style.. groove tunes, and those types of sounds... when he cowrote fame with Bowie..that portended things like that.. I can sort of Imagine a Lennon album..... grooving like A Sledgehammer type thing..

I Think he would have sort of retired after a couple more albums anyway..maybe popped back around every eight years or so like George Harrison...

The other thing... I wouldnt be surprised if Lennon would have died in his late forties or early fifties anyway, with all his self abuse , drinking, drugging. mild mental illness, weird macrobiotic diet, binging on coke... chain smoking, would he really have lived into his seventies, he looked pretty bad at forty.. he was so thin. I wondered about drugs or even the *** virus which started about that time, as double fantasy..

God wouldnt two or three or four more albums been fantastic!

Recently I have been compiling, a Sometime In new York City,,, removing Yoko
I edited Luck Of The Irish...it sounds great, editing out her verses...bloody fantastic
and I added Happy Xmas. and I tried to re --EQ Attica State, to make his voice more prominent... and I added Power to the People...which fits right in.. a political song from
late 71, I added the GOD SAVE OZ with Lennon singing... and I added Do the OZ> and I had enough tracks. with just John to basically get rid of most of her tracks.... not to be rude or anything... anyway the result is great, best production Spector did with Lennon great fidelity and sound very lush.. INstant Karma might have better production...but the 72 spector tracks sound much better than the Imagine tracks.... its like a great lost little jewel.....fixing up the 72 album... no offense to Yoko, but I just dont want any Yoko with my Lennon music

I grew up to his music on the radio and here and there. I recently bought some of his albums on vinyl and I'm getting into some of his non-hits lately.
