Re: Nick Drake

I've also got the book and I suppose it tells you as much about Nick Drake's life as we will ever know.

Re: Nick Drake

Hi everyone. I'm new to CR,but It's clear I've found a great forum, with Nick Drake fans on it !. To me Nick was a genius, and was sadly launched into a musical world that was in love with Hard Rock/Blues Rock,so to be quiet and slightly melancholic was not 'in'. I always feel that Nick was too gentle to ever survive the music industry, possibly too naive?. His music is timeless and has an unearthly beauty to it. The song 'Fruit Tree' sadly tells us of Nicks perception of fame. Bryter.

Re: Nick Drake

Another great artist who left the world way too soon.

I first heard about Nick Drake in a magazine article.

I was intrigued by the details about Drake and the description of his songs so I went the following weekend to Tower Records and bought Pink Moon and listened to it immediately.

I was speechless.

I went back to the store and bought the other two albums. Equally brilliant.

It is hard to believe that his music received so little attention at the time when it was released.

I guess we should be glad that we do have, though not enough, a wonderful set of albums from Nick Drake.

I can't help but wonder, like others, what might have been of Nick Drake's career and if there is any music of his still in the vaults or kept hidden somewhere.

Wow, Nick Drake. One day there will be something happen to revive a huge interest in his music, and when it does more people will realise just what an amazing artist he was.

Favourite song of his is without doubt Riverman

Re: Nick Drake

:grinthumb Great to see more CRF fans posting in this thread.

Nick did have a slight resurgence in interest in his awesome music when VW used Pink Moon as the music to one of their ads,and you can often hear his songs in programmes like Heartbeat, and Road was used in the film Hideous Kinky.

I think a little coverage of his music is well overdue on the playlists of radio stations :).

Re: Nick Drake

Very much outside my normal scope of music. But I think he's great and have all his albums.

Time Has Told Me

Place to Be

Which Will

"Place To Be" would be just about one of my favourite Nick Drake songs. I get a bit teary eyed when I listen to it. Gets all my emotions going. I try to play my guitar like that but it's hard. He really was a good guitarist!!!!
