It May Not Have A Damn Thing To With The 70's But, Ian Gillen Was Pretty Horrible With Black Sabbath

I really don't like the vocals of Rush. A very talented and creative band but Geddy Lee's vocals grate on my nerves.

I can't believe how crap Rush went in the 80's. They were really good and then it seems Geddy Lee took the band in a different direction, like all the way to Shit Street. But, yeah, worst vocalist combined with crappiest cornhole lyrics ... gotta be Brian Johnson all the way. I know AC/DC wanted to carry on the band but they picked a proper lemon. Bon, of course, was a darling ... Ahem.

I remember Black Oak Arkansas, and I agree what an awful lead singer with Jim Dandy.

That singer would be Ruby Starr. She played quite frequently around here after Black Oak Arkansas. She sounded much better live than on Jim Dandy. She was a very nice lady in person and put on a great show.

I must agree with you - Jim Dandy annoys the hell out of me :bonk:

She passed away a few years ago. RIP Ruby.

Actually Brian Johnson didn't emerge in AC/DC until 1980 (Back in Black)
My choice for worst lead singer of a 70's rock band would be Bill Ward (drummer for Black Sabbath) with his two lead vocal performances on Technical Ecstasy's It's Alright and Never Say Die's Swinging the Chain. Although the latter is a pretty cool song.

I think Bill Ward sings at Master of Reality, too. Solitude, nice one :)
Ozzy later couldn`t remember for such a Sabbath song :D

I think the worst lead sinnger woul dhave to be..........i like them all but dont preticulary like bruce springsteen his voice is so dull i like his music but the voice is dull :(

I have never understood his popularity. Don't listen to him much but when I do it kind of sounds like he should have going to the restroom prior to recording.

Keith Ritchards singing in concert to give mick a break that was a all time low.

If there are worse then these two I don't want to hear it!!!

Geddy Lee has a very annoying voice that reminds me of Axel Rose, whom I find to be VERY annoying.

Someone mentioned Ian Gillan, specifically with Black Sabbath. It was a bad fit indeed but I love him with Deep Purple.

The guy from "Slade" whatever his name was, he was awful.

Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane was never one of my favorite voices.

I love Neil Young and his music, but face it, his voice sucks. Same for Willie Nelson. ...and Bob Dylan.

Ted Nugent needed to stick with Derek St. Holmes

Bar none - Johnny Rotten.

Springsteen is liked because he never "sold-out". Regardless, of his "fame", he's NEVER forgotten his NJ roots, or what is was like trying to make it like he did, when he was 7 years old and watching Elvis on the Ed Sullivan Show. The Pete Seeger Sessions disc is EXCELLENT. More music like that is needed nowadays, instead of wannabe Britney's and Snoop Dogg's.

Paul Kanter was NOT a frontman of Jefferson Airplane. Grace Slick was, come on folks Classic Rock 101 is not that tough.
