Re: Most Overated Bands of the 90's

The Beatles have that, IMO.

Nirvana are pretty overrated, but that doesn't mean they're not great. I mean, they're my favorite band, and after Kurts death he some how became a god, and everyone started worshipping him.
I love Nirvana for the vocal melodies of the songs. Kurts a good guitarist, but everyone knows he wasn't the greatest guitarist around, technicality-wise. To say they are the most overrated band of all time is ridiculous. To be the msot overrated band in the world they'd either have to be SO INCREDIBLY FAMOUS THAT THEY ARE ONE OF EVERY SINGLE MUSICIANS INFLUENCES(beatles) or that they're complete crap, but they're neither, they've had a good amount of fame, and maybe just a little bit more than they deserve, but I guess thats just my opinion.

I agree with this guy when it comes to Nirvana. The songs are good, some a brilliant, but no one can pretend that they are so much better than everyone else's music, there just good, reasonably simple songs. The reason Nirvana is so well known and famous has to do more with how they defined a generation, a style and an attitude. This means so much more than their actual songs.

This thread needs to be change to "90's bands you don't like?". Not much love for Oasis and Nirvana. I'm not a huge fan of Nirvana, I do like them. But, I do really like Oasis. I would never compare them to the Beatles....I'm a huge Beatles fan and I would not entertain any conversation involving the Beatles not being the best band in rock n roll history period. I really like Oasis, great lyrics and some of their early albums were great. I think alot of people were "turned off" from them because of the brother's antics....just sayin :oyea:

As for bands in the 90's that I find overrated (dislike)

Radiohead
Korn
Nine Inch Nails
Tool

Absolute garbage IMO, but thats just my thoughts....peace

I respect your opinion, but wow. The Beatles as the most overrated? Seriously?? I think your are getting the term overrated and influential confused....:oyea:

I have seen people say Oasis is overrated. I personally like Oasis, I just don't see how they are overrated or over-hyped.

I honestly don't care for these type of threads, because it all boils down to an opinion, your own!

But I will say one thing, people sure love to slam Nirvana as the winner of the overrated award. Not that I am a huge fan, but I dont even see Kurt or Nirvana as overrated

:wtf:

I agree. I like both Oasis and Nirvana. The only overrated band from the 90s that comes in my mind now is Radiohead. They're ok, I just don't see why so many people think they're great. :wtf:

I enjoy Dookie, idc for any other green day stuff, as for Nirvana they're one of if not my favourite band. Sam goes with radiohead. But Radiohead is a love em or hate em band, their music is so unique for it's time, its not for everyone.

Overrated bands include: Green Day, Limp Biscuit :&, Nine Inch Nails, Offspring (although i did like Smash) and many others.

this doesn't mean I hate these bands its just that they're not as good as they're cracked up to be...

Creed. Scott Stapp's voice to me is like nails on a chalkboard, and after their manager Jeff Hanson said to the press that the album Weathered would be "a modern-day Joshua Tree" I felt ill. Like a case of VD it was painful for a while but eventually it all went away.
