Apologies if recent shows by Robert Plant have already been discussed here - but I saw him play in London last night....and it was AMAZING.

I went along with pretty low expectations to be honest...just to tick off another Legend on my list...and I was bracing myself for all the faux-Alabama vocal stylings....but I have to say this guy blew me away.

He did a number of Led Zep songs - When the Levee Breaks, Going to California, Black Dog, Whole Lotta Love, etc - but in a such new way. He and his band ("Strange Presence") have reinvented these old chestnuts and it never sounded like some nostalgia show.

Also - he did a fantastic version of "Morning Dew" - and the new songs were excellent...in a stonerish, trippy way.

Has anyone else seen Robert Plant live recently?

Is it called Strange Presence? I always thought it was the Strange Sensation. Either way, I am not a big fan of their album, but I was suprised to find out my dad was. He never liked Led Zeppelin.

Also, I am interested in hearing his version of Morning Dew, that song is awesome.

I saw him on the Manic Nirvana tour in Dusseldorf Germany back in '91 and it was the best I've ever seen him. He had just started doing Zep songs live around that time (probably on the previous Now and Zen tour). I saw him a few years later on the Fate of Nations tour in South Florida. Both shows were great. He always impressed me live.

I can't say I'm a big fan of Mighty Rearranger, but I've seen Plant 3 times over the years (Principles Of Moments, Now & Zen, and Fate Of Nations) and he's always put on a great show, and the people I know who saw his latest tour all said it was great as well.

Robert's singing quite well again after an iffy period sometime in the 90's....I am planning on seeing him again if he teams up once again with Page.
The last time I saw him was with Page on The Walking Through Clarkesdale tour in 1998.

Yes - you're right - sorry - it was the Strange Sensation.

"Morning Dew" is great, isn't it? I've got a version by Rod Stewart/Jeff Beck - but do you know who else has recorded it?

Blackfoot did a version on their Vertical Smiles album circa 1984.
