COLLINS: NO MORE GENESIS
This news is brought to you by VH1 Radio's Dave Basner

Later this month, Phil Collins will release Going Back, a collection of vintage and soul covers. So with his focus on his own music, where do things stand with Genesis? The singer told Billboard, “I think Genesis are no longer. I don’t foresee me doing any more Genesis shows.” Collins explained it isn’t because he doesn’t want to rather “it doesn’t fit in with [his] life,” which he wants to spend with his family and writing a book about the Alamo. Read more at Billlboard.com and pick up Phil’s new album, Going Back, on September 28th.

Not surprising at all, and isn't Phil still recovering from neck surgery?

That might be another part of the puzzle. Genesis had a great run and if they are finished as a recording/touring band then that is understandable.

I will wager that down the road if they have a festival invitation to support a good cause they might get together for a "One of" event.

"writing a book about the Alamo"???...wow, that came out of left field. I wonder if Phil will write anything about Ozzy pissing on it.

Well this is a downer :( Unless Phil reconsiders, all I can hope for now is the increasingly slim chance of Peter Gabriel bringing back the classic line-up.

LG: Phil has made a full recovery and has played a couple of shows as well as recorded his album already.

Seeing someone has a Who versus thread I was chatting in this morning it reminded me of why I am...Skeptical about these things now.

The Who played their fans for stupid many many times years ago. They had at least Two this is the absolute last concert tour we will ever undertake. And two years later they were back saying the same thing. Of course they are Still touring now, half of the band anyway.

If there is enough interest and money, then I think Genesis will get together with or without Gabriel for a special event.

Glad to hear Phil's neck/back troubles are over now Sal, that is never any fun.

Yes, I just hope they won't come back :)

I know this and I hope he does reconsider...after all they've done it themselves once before. I just really really want to see them live before it's not possible anymore :( I guess I'll have to keep watching and waiting though.
