Re: Jethro Tull
While I have some PC time I'll post the first Ian Anderson solo album.
Walk Into Light (1983)
Back in the early 80’s when Ian Anderson announced he was going to issue his first solo album, most Jethro Tull fans thought that it would be the long awaited collection of compositions similar to the acoustic songs he’d written for Minstrel In The Gallery or Songs From The Wood etc. It was a surprise therefore that when Walk Into Light was finally issued in November 1983 not only were many songs co-written with Peter Vettese (the Jethro Tull keyboard player at that time) but that the general feel of the album was more “eighties” with the use of drum programming and synthesisers alongside flute, acoustic and electric guitars.
Having said that though, the album produced many welcome surprises and some great songs such as Fly By Night, Made In England, Toad In The Hole and Looking For Eden, some of which would surface over the course of time in a concert setting with Jethro Tull.
I’ll admit that by today’s standards the production sounds slightly dated but true to Ian Anderson’s love of using new technology in his work. If Ian Anderson himself regarded the album as an experiment, many would argue that it had to be done and was well worth it. If you regard Under Wraps as a “lost” classic or simply enjoy the album for what it is, Walk Into Light is the precursor of that album and is well worth the price of a copy.
1. Fly by Night (Anderson, Vettese)
2. Made in England (Anderson, Vettese)

5. End Game (Anderson
6. Black and White Television (Anderson)
7. Toad in the Hole (Anderson)
8. Looking for Eden (Anderson)
9. User-Friendly (Anderson, Vettese)
10. Different Germany (Anderson, Vettese)
