Sweet Home Alabama is still massively overplayed and it actually bugs me because so many people define Skynyrd by that song only.
In most kareoke "books" there are only 2 Skynyrd songs to sing and those are "Sweet Home" and "Freebird", quite annoying.
Some other great Skynyrd songs should get more recognition and maybe by the band finally getting inducted into the Hall Of Fame they might see the light of day on more Classic Rock stations....Songs Like:
I Ain't The One
Cry For The Bad Man
Needle and The Spoon
Gimme Back My Bullets
You Got That Right
I Know A Little
Gimme 3 Steps
Sataurday Night Special
:shirt:

Gimme Back My Bullets is great and hardly every played. I also like, All I Can Do is Write About It.

Yes, India....Skynyrd has a lot of good songs that the mainstream hasn't heard....the verses of Gimme Back My Bullets are actually very good...lots of melody there.
Ronnie Van Zant really was very talented!

The Classic Rock stations here are KILLING Simple Man. Before December, I never once heard it on the radio. Now it is on about twice a day on BOTH stations. Seriously, it started playing on the Fox and I was like, "Dear, God, this is overplayed now!", switched it to the Ride and I hear Van Zant singing "do this for me".

Also, I'd like to say again, I HATE The Joker by Steve Miller Band.

That's too bad about Simple Man Roxor, it's a good song but just meant to "simply" be heard once in a while and I also suggest Steve Miller takes a break from being The Space Cowboy!...lol
What's the deal with these "Classic Rock" stations anyways....there must not be too many creative song programmers out there!
I HARDLY listen to the regular radio anymore, more into my own CD's or just my download library on my compu...I haven't made the transition into an MP3 player for my car or i-Tunes yet, and doubt that I will.
Actually, since I'm driving an old 77 Pontiac (which runs great)there's an AM radio to listen to in it which suits me fine, usually Oldies stations are what's playing when I'm motorvating around!

Same here for Simple Man. Except it's not Skynyrd's version. SHine Down remade it and now it's played to death - their version anyway.
