Looks like a bunch of bands from the 80s to me, Clairvoyant. Shouldn't a good decade have good music from bands that are new and/or less than 10 years old?

My first problem with the 00s is the production. The day that pro-tools became available as a free (illegal) internet download, and affordable for independent bands, was the day music died. I can't stomach that soulless schmaltz unless the music is beyond world-class.

I have more records from the 00s than any other decade so it's not for lack of trying. I do still believe that greater things will emerge from the 00s. However the chances of this become slightly less if the 10s don't get their act in gear and start bringing something good into vogue. When I look at music today I have to imagine that something will come along to wipe the materialism away from rap, the glitz away from metal, and the conformity away from rock. I mean, it's happened before.

Oh so it has to be bands that formed in the 2000's?? That'll narrow it down A BIT...I thought it was just music, or music style that was released in a certain decade.

Nah, it's anything, dude. I just meant that it stands to reason a good decade for music would have something new to impart. Don't all those 80s groups have better records that they released in the 80s? So then that would still make the 00s one of the worst decades for music, unless all you like is 80s music.

I see your point - therefore the 90s imparted the shitstain that was grunge....I still am shocked that it is not way out in front! I do think that albums like 'Magica' from DIO and 'Brave New World' are the equal of anything that was done in the 80s....equally I think Halford's 'Resurrection' was better than 80s Priest!

I'm proud (and surprised) to say the the 80s very rightfully has more votes against it than the 90s. :cheers2

But I agree with you completely that the new music from old bands can be their best. Tom Petty's last two records are definitely among his all-time greatest as well as being 2 of my favorite records from the 00s. For that matter, half of my favorite records from the 90s are from Petty & Neil Young, and in my world those records rank from their best to just beneath their best.

Also I have Angel of Retribution and I probably spin it about as often as Painkiller. :grinthumb

:peek well I stick up for the 00's but its not a single one of those bands although I respect Dream Theater. Plus yeah like AAG said those aren't new bands that formed in the 00's.

I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in thinking, the 2000's were the worst decade in music...

not saying everything sucked...no.

But, musically it was dull and boring, nothing exciting happened, unlike the other decades in the poll.

50s R&R shook the world and the world has never been the same since then. We loved it!

Cheers to annie on BOTH her posts on the 50's.
:cheers2

I listen to 50's music, and get refreshed when I get burned out on 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's music. I really do. It's great.

I think all rock and music fans, should slowly seek out the music of the 50's, there so much great music to discover. Trust me.
