We? No offense, but you can't speak for everyone and say it was a fact.

I knew about Queen from my older sister's boyfriend back in the 70's, before ''we'' ever seen Freddie Mercury.

Four dudes in the 70's calling themselves ''Queen'' was a red flag.

I didn't know mentioning ''Queen'' would turn into such a big deal...

but it did....

ummm....so the name was a "red flag" meaning a warning to stay away from the band??

Queensryche and Queens of the Stone Age couldn't imply the same thing??

GM I wasn't speaking for everyone, just my own circle of friends, didn't think I had to spell that out. Doesn't matter to me, Queen is a great band their legacy is beyond reproach and so is Freddie's place in music history.

Back to names...Although I like them, "Doug and the Slugs" was a terrible name, I can't help but think it limited their appeal over the years.:D

I actually quite like the name Twisted Sister as a band, though I agree that Hoobastank and Hootie And The Blowfish are horrid :heheh:

Mott The Hoople is a name I've never liked as well

I also agree that Hootie and the Blowfish was pretty bad....first time I heard them I thought it was a new Pearl Jam song. there was alot of that goin' on at that time as well.

:heheh:

Back when AC/DC first started getting known in my neck of the woods, a lot of people were suspicious of their name too.

A couple more horrible names:
The Jesus Lizard
TurboNegro

Groovy Man

Really?

Hootie and the Blowfish were anti-grunge sounding at the time.

I think that's why they were so popular back then.

They were like a breath of fresh air.

For the record I like all the names Hole, Bubble Puppy, Doug & the Slugs, Mott the Hoople and Hootie & the Blowfish. They're all imaginative!
