Amy Winehouse forming new "supergroup"

British singer Amy Winehouse is forming a new supergroup with The Roots’ drummer ?uestlove. The “Rehab” hitmaker is planning to make music with the hip-hop musician, along with producer Raphael Saadiq, who will be on guitar, according to ?uestlove, real name Ahmir Thompson.

But Winehouse has so far been unable to move the plans forward – because she is struggling to obtain a visa to enter America to visit the record producer. The singer was previously denied entry to the U.S. for the 2008 Grammy Awards after she was arrested in October, 2007 when she was caught in possession of seven grammes of marijuana in Norway.

But Thompson is adamant the band will soon begin work on new music: “The group will definitely happen. It’s just the closest she can come to the States is Jamaica. I’m off to France soon so I’ll see if she’s up for discussing it over dinner. We’re Skyping the s**t out of each other.”

This is not going to be a supergroup, it will be a recipe for disaster.

A supergroup?

Am I mistaken or does a supergroup involve more than three semi famous members. I have to say that though Amy's more famous than the whole Roots group and Raphael that this is more of a creative backslide for them than her. The Roots are a fusion of hip-hop, jazz and Blues with actual instruments which is very exceptional for a hip-hop group. Raphael is a critically acclaimed soul singer that could have fit right in with the classic soul artists that came before him. Working with a crackhead who had momentary success due to making nostalgic music and being a media whore does nothing for them!

Not sure how the "super" got in there

Will they be as big as this Super Group??

Have I actually read this thread correctly? Amy Winehouse and Supergroup in the same sentence.

Sorry, but I very much doubt it.

Amy is a talented singer but as per other great artists she has fallen into the grip of alcohol and aledged drug taking.

If Amy can ever come clean (I hope she does) then maybe, just maybe she will get some respect back and as for the Supergroup? I really cant see Amy doing anything but solo.
