Alphabetical and chronological here as well. Pretty much how I file/display most of my collections whether it's books, CD's or magazines.

When I still used CDs (god, I hate the freaking things) they were sorted as such, on a 6-tier entertainment unit:

1 - Mix CD's, pirated / discs I made using more than one artist.
2 - Studio albums, legitimate, 1-2 stacks/studio albums, pirated, 1-2 stacks
3 - Box sets of things/anthologies or anything coming in a large package
4 - Greatest hits compilations, legitimate, 1-2 stacks/pirated compilation packages
5 - Legitimate various artists types of CDs
6 - Cassettes (which don't count, but I have a shit load of them)

I have mine organized alphabetically, and then the albums in order of release like Telecat and Hep. I also separate my classical by composer and keep all the symphonies together and piano sonatas in order as well. I have a "Metal" section for all the newer hard rock metal bands I have been collecting as well, again alphabetically and chronologically.

Right behind you!
At random lol. As I get more CDs I just sort of add them to the end of the row, or put them together with the artist's other releases that I already own.

Me too - I just can't help it, everything has to be in order, so all of our Dvd's magazines, & books too! Well they are until Sox comes along and plays one then just sticks it back anywhere!

The OCD in me comes out, so they have to be alphabetical and in chronological order. My various artist CDs (which only amount to about ten) come at the end in no particular order. I work on surnames so for example Tori Amos is the first up in my collection. The CDs I make mixes of myself or burn myself, I either keep on my bookshelf or in this neat liitle file I found for keeping them. I spent a couple of hours putting my dear hubby's CDs in order, but I shouln't have bothered as he just stuffs them back anywhere
