Re: The Dave Clark Five!

I love the Dave Clark Five. In fact, their album Try Too Hard was the first rock record I ever owned. My mom bought if for me when I was, like, 5 or 6 years old. They were definitely a Beatles knock-off band, like Herman's Hermits and a slew of other British Invasion acts. But they did it well.

I always liked them a lot, but it seemed as though their music just didn't evolve much. All of those British invasion bands who were considered the most like the Beatles (and their biggest competitors) were also the ones who were pretty much left behind when the Beatles' music began to change and head in new directions.

BTW, that keyboard player in "Catch Us If You Can" has kind of a Hugh Grant thing going there, doesn't he?

Rick Huxley Dead at 72

Rick Huxley, bass player for The Dave Clark Five, has passed away at the age of 72. He died from emphysema. With Denis Payton and Mike Smith also gone, this leaves Dave Clark and Lenny Davidson the only surviving members. RIP Rick and thank you for all the wonderful music.
