I agree very much with you Sooty, though I think the era of music that I grew up with kind of sucked. The late 90's were not exactly a cornucopia of good, popular music for a young me.

Well not for me. Though it wasn't really until about a decade later that I really got into music anyway.

Lady Gaga is not someone I would go the extra mile for and buy the cd`s. It`s just not my 'type' of music and every person is wired differently.
Howver, the girl has talent. She writes her own material, plays the piano quite well, and has a hell of a voice!
As far as the outlandish wadrobe, and costumes, it`s all an act, attention ggrabbing and show- business. I don`t think she is as eccentric as people believe her to be. She has an image and is marketing it well.
I did see a clip of her performing 'Pokerface' on the piano acoustically, and then the song transformed into the dance hit. It was a phenomenal performance.
The reason why I know the little that I know about lady gaga is through my niece.
Some say she is the new Madonna. I feel Gaga is more talented musically and vocal-wise.

Lady Gaga is terrible. She's a big fake. She goes around pretending to be origginal and unique and highly praises herself all the time. She's no different then any other musician out nowadays. She may be able to play piano but that doesn't excuse her for being the biggest fake of the decade. It's obvious that she's trying so hard and people actually think she's eccentric. She's just a big phony, She'll be forgotten within 3 years In My Opinion

I'd say the chances of that are about as likely as Madonna being forgotten within the next 3 years....

There's no way Lady Gaga can be compared to Madonna at this point. There's no indication that she has Madonna's staying power. Lady Gaga may indeed be just a flash in the pan.

Well call it an educated guess if it makes you feel better then, but really anyone could claim that any new group or artist is going to be a flash in the pan during their first couple years.
