Re: The Black Keys!

I really like this band. Seen them live a couple of times, the drummer really likes to give it some!!
Thickfreakness is probably my favourite album.

Re: The Black Keys!

I remember the first time I ever heard The Black Keys. I was just coming out of a KFC drive through and "I Got Mine" (my favorite song by them) came on the radio and I swear I thought it was The White Stripes until the vocals came in and I went "Wait....what?". I own more than one album of theirs and I must say that I think they are like The White Stripes, only not as good in every aspect.

HUGE fan of the Black Keys. Dan Auerbach's solo album from last year "Keep it Hid" was also great. It is a little more laid-back than The Keys. He is an incredibly talented musician!

I love this band and their new album. The Black Keys blow The White Stripes out of the water any day, IMO.

The White Stripes have a few songs that I just cannot stand, while I've enjoyed every song I've heard by The Black Keys up to date.

Re: The Black Keys!

I first got into The Black Keys after hearing Girl Is On My Mind from their Rubber Factory CD.
Both our lass and me were blown away by them and have been to see them live a couple of times and they rocked on each occasion.
There are White Stripes comparisons to be made due to the drummer + guitar/vocal line up and I have huge respect for both bands. I prefer Dan's more soulful vocal delivery and this really sets the two bands apart for me.
The latest CD Brothers I think falls short of their earlier stuff. Maybe a few more listens will win me over though.

Dan also looks like he has been living in a garage with the shaggy beard. Which fits perfectly with thier garage rock feel. I also think Dan's guitar playing is almost psychedillic rock especially in songs like Just Gotta Be. I also prefer Partick Carney's drumming over Meg's drumming.

Patrick Carney really kills the drums live. I like Megs drumming but she sometimes she has problems keeping time, especially in their earlier albums.
