Led Zeppelin. They ruled the roost and wrote their own ticket.

Though having only recorded two albums since 1975, the somewhat disappointing Prescence and In Through The Out Door, this ten year old band was set to embark on a worldwide concert tour in 1979 which was sure to sell out stadiums by the hundreds of thousands everywhere they plugged in.

That is staying power.

Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Jethro Tull and Deep Purple came out of the 60s, but enjoyed their greatest success in the 70s...

Bands coming out in the 70s that could be considered great would include Queen, Aerosmith, ELP, Wings, Plastic Ono Band, Derek & The Dominoes and Van Halen...

But the question is GREATEST, not great. That is why I said there is no such thing.

I'd say Pink Floyd, because they're my favorite band. But Zepps are followers, being my second favorite band. Tough choice :-/

Pish posh. The answer is so clearly those four guys who were masters of the recording studio and were spearheaded by that Freddie Saturn fellow who brought ballet and opera back to the masses. ;)

I'm with Sid. We're backing Blondie.

Of course I say Pink Floyd, because they're my favorite band of all time.:D

I had a really big Zeppelin phase when I was a teenager, but now they kind of bore the hell outta me.. I would say The Who also, but most of everthing good they did was in the 60's. Rush is another great one, but there again they straddle the 70's and 80's.
