Frank has released a track that didn't make it on to his DVD Box set.

For any of you that are interested it can be found here

Happy listening!

You still can't get any of Frank's late 1970s and early 1980s cd/albums over here in Anglo-Saxon England in particular the live album from 1979 and Tales of the Unexpected from 1980 which is well out of order!!.

I've seen Frank three times, all in Cleveland.
First was 1980 plus two times in the '00's. I did not make the 2010 Frank Marino convention at The Agora.

Never was much of a fan though I did like 'Strange Universe' (1975) in the past.
The whole thing with him being Hendrix reincarnated was a hoot. Apparently the record company made it up without asking him and it plagued him forever. He of course denied ever saying that. Apparently he had a bad drug trip and while recovering took up guitar and that was just the style that he developed.

If you are into a 'Hendrix' sound I highly recommend Robin Trower solo lps...his style also evokes some of that sound.

I read a couple of decades or more ago that Frank was in a hospital bed and was seriously in a bad way but the spirit of Jimi Hendrix visited him and gave him the power to play electric guitar the same way as Jimi even though Frank had never picked up an electric guitar before??.

When it comes to Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush I bought a couple of his cds 30+ years ago back in the mid-1990s one was Tales of the Unexpected released in 1979 and Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush live cd from 1978 with the band covering Hendrix's Purple Haze anyway both cds were pretty good I thought but regards Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush I haven't seen any cds from those guys over this side of the Atlantic (England) since about 1995 which is bad news cos I liked them.

Frank has an extensive line of gear bearing his name. There are some great articles at this site if you are tech head.

Here is a link to his regular site and messageboard.

A buddy of mine plays a cherry Gibson SG, very similar to Frank's. He decided he wanted his guitar signed by Frank. He took his guitar to a guitar shop and they took off the finish in a 4 inch area for the signature and would reseal it after the guitar was signed.

So me and my bud go up to the House Of Blues a few hours before doors to the concert venue open and we enter the bar/restaurant area. We have a seat at the bar and order a couple beers. The barmaid brings us our beers and says, "no charge since you're with the band". I look at my buddy and say, "I remember my last day". This was in reference to the bar maid soon getting fired for giving away free drinks to regular guys. It was one of those put your head down and laugh moments. I still use that saying anytime somebody does something stupid at work, "I remember my last day".

Fast forward to after the show, my buddy got the guitar signed and later had it resealed. It looked fabulous. I had a CD with me and got it signed. I asked Frank to draw the crying moon which he did and he then included my name and signed it. I've told the kids that they'll probably get at least $3 at the yard sale after I die.

As far as Jimi style guitar players. I saw Randy Hansen around '81 or so before he became a Hendrix tribute act. He was a pretty hot guitar player before totally dedicating his art to Hendrix. I'm sure he's also great now...45 years later!
