King Of The Hill educated us in music.. not just propane!
Saw this guy live, he had us captivated.. pure class.
Chuck Mangione - Feels So Good.
I also saw Chuck live in the early 80's at a local county college. That's one of my favorite instrumental songs.

Great gateway bloke to jazzy stuff.. Lot of folk are nervous to dip the toe in..
Herb Alpert - Rotation.
I just had a song pop into my head for absolutely no reason, but I was sure it was a Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass track.

Not Spanish Flea:

Not Tijuana Taxi:

And the winner is......A Taste Of Honey

No idea why such stuff just pops into my head like that. I mean, I like the music, but I haven't listened to that stuff for years.

Herb & The Brass was about as contemporary as my Dad's musical taste ever got. He was more swing & jazz and even drove the tour bus for the Glenn Miller Orchestra in the late 70's. Dad was a charter bus driver and a musician (Hammond B-3 & Leslie speaker in the living room, also sax and trumpet)

When you toss in a Latino feel..
Steely Dan - Do It Again.
Steely Dan were a funny band cos a few of their 'rock numbers' such as Reelin' In The Years and Rikki Don't Lose That Number were pretty good and 'catchy rock songs' but some of their other stuff had a definite 'jazz feel' to them. Do It Again was a good number.

I'm sure they were mentioned but the first 2 Mahavishnu Orchestra lps are some of the heaviest jazz fusion around......

Also recommend anything by Return To Forever, WEather Report, and Caravanserai , Welcome, and Borboletta by Santana.....
