Heard on BBC radio 4 on Wednesday 8th February "Black Sabbath the Ballet" yeah you read correctly. Apparently a guy who is something to do with the ballet and who also likes "heavy metal music" and that was how it was announced on the radio approached Tony Iommi and put the proposition to him of staging a ballat and using Black Sabbath's music for the ballet dancers to dance too?.

Tony Iommi appeared in a brief pre-recorded radio interview that morning at around 7:20 am saying that he 'liked the idea' and had already been to the dance studio to watch the ballet dancers perform. Apparently 'Black Sabbath the Ballet' is scheduled to open sometime around September of 2023 possibly first in Birmingham?. From the same interview Tony briefly explained how Black Sabbath came about and how he lost two finger tips in an industrial accident back in 1968/69 and had to re-learn how to play the guitar and how he de-tuned to create a 'heavier sound' that kickstarted the 'heavy metal movement' of the early 1970s.

There have been more and more rock & metal operas over the years, plus symphonic metal as a sub-genre, so why not?

It just needs to be dark.

The ballet dancers will be dressed in short black leather jackets along with black studded leather wristbands and Biff Byford of Saxon type 'spandex' bottoms while prancing around the stage to the old Sabbath 'chestnuts' such as Paranoid, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, N.I.B., Iron Man, War Pigs, Electric Funeral, Children of the Grave and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath!.

You couldn't make it up??. ;)
