Whoa!!
That's like choosing your favourite child.

I have a list of criteria that a song needs to contain, which I won't bore you with. Yawn.
I've narrowed my choice down to " PAPERBACK WRITER" by a band called THE BEATLES (Paul's Bass playing was way ahead of the times) & " GIMME SHELTER " by THE ROLLING STONES (Bill's Bass & Charlie's Drumming drive this Rock classic)
Early BEATLES, I would vote for " ANY TIME AT ALL " " DOCTOR ROBERT "
STONES' " JUMPIN' JACK FLASH "
I've just remembered my favourite of the 60's, it's " WHITE ROOM " by CREAM. D'uh!!
I've just remembered " TIN SOLDIER" by SMALL FACES
THE KINKS "All Day and All of the Night" is another contender.
The more I think, the more great songs I think of.
I'm going to have a little lie down now, see ya.

Oh, " PICTURES of MATCHSTICKMEN" by STATUS QUO 1968.............
"PICTURES of MATCHSTICKMEN" sounds very different to " ROLL OVER LAY DOWN" LOL!!!!!!!

That's a surprise to hear someone mention the song "Hey Bulldog" by the Beatles. It's always been an obscure song that very seldom gets talked about and has ALWAYS been a fav of mine.Nice call Stepcousin....:pullhair:

keep those model subway trains running - watch the closing doors.
I've always rated " HEY BULLDOG" AS ONE OF THEIR BETTER SONGS.
John's barking and howling near the end of the song is bloody great.

Gimme Shelter was Keith scowling at Mick from his flat in Lancaster Gate.. Mick and Anita didn't simulate the love scenes in Performance and left the cast gasping... literally!
Did Keith play bass on the original recording?

"What goes around comes around as the old saying goes"

Keith nicked her off Brian anyway and as for the song Gimmie Shelter it was and still is the stones best song by far followed by Brown Sugar, Honk* Tonk Women & Jumpin' Jack Flash.
