Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced a new studio album Letter To You. The album will be released on October 23 via Columbia Records, and was apparently recorded in just five days at Springsteen's home studio. It will mark Springsteen's 20th album.

"I love the emotional nature of Letter To You," says Springsteen. "And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs.
"We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had."

Letter To You will include nine original tracks, plus three – Janey Needs A Shooter, If I Was The Priest and Song For Orphans – written early in his career but never released until now.

Was my favourite artist (seen him / them about 10 times - tons of live and outtake bootlegs). Favourite album is probably Nebraska. However, there's been nothing close to the early albums since Tunnel of Love. HT and LT had their moments. TGOTJ was and always has been a disappointment (after Nebraska). Contrary to popular opinion, I wasn't overly enamoured by The Rising. Magic is the last album I have more time for - Working on a Dream is almost embarrasing - and it's mostly not been uphill since then. Maybe I miss stuff in the lyrics (his early lyrics - 70s, The River, Nebraska - were so good) - i just kind of wish he's address the state of his country and the world a little instead of hitching and horses! I get the feeling he's too high up (close to elite figures, such as Obama), too rich and sheltered.... If Neil Young can still do it.... - I keep hoping Bruce will dig deep / have a go at what's going on [I know many people actively don't want him being political or making comments - they're probably happy with the dreams, check-out girls, motorbike, horses, etc songs). Hich Hikin' was another recent low (maybe I'm missing something).
I'm sure there'll be people who disagree with me - that I'm missing stuff in the lyrics, and that he's stood up for / supported lots of good causes over the years.
I don't hold out high hopes for the new album (unfortunately) - resurrecting three old songs (though I'm interested to hear what they've done with If I Was the Priest and [less so] Song for Orphans) doesn't sound like the action of someone with loads of new songs / things to say.

I hope I'm wrong. It's just that he used to be so good - and meaningful - guess we all move on, whether we like it or not. Remember, anyone that reads this, it's purely (my) personal opinion. Feel free to refute my comments.
