I am a massive Rick Derringer fan and have been since the mid 1980s. I have around 15 Rick Derringer cds in my cd collection many of which are rare and hard to obtain these days. Back in 1991 Rick was on the 'Night of the Guitars' package tour in the UK along with a number of other 'axe merchants' such as Robin Trower, Jan Akkerman (of Focus) Laurie Wisefield (of Wishbone Ash) Ronnie Montrose and half a dozen other 'named' guitar stars and after the gig at the Town And Country club in Kentish Town in north London I approached Miles Copeland the manager of the whole thing and asked him if I could meet Robin Trower which I did for about 5 minutes and that was cool but sometimes I wish I had asked to meet Rick instead no disrespect to Robin Trower dudes.

One Rick Derringer recording I have been after since the 1980s is a recording named Good Dirty Fun which I originally had on vinyl plus it's 12in 4 track EP neither of which has ever appeared in the UK anyway it appeared on a Canadian record label called Passport Records from memory.

Most of his stuff is too poppy or too funky for my taste but I do like his first two DERRINGER studio albums and the live album from that line up .
Plus scattered things he’s done .. but most of it is hit and miss with the bulk of it being miss to me .
Great player for sure I just wish he would have stayed on the Derringer ( the band ) direction or maybe continued on in the vein he was in with Johnny Winter .
