Most Overrated Album Of The 80s

I would have to agree with Death On Credit about Jacko`s Thriller album. Yes, some songs are quite good, but then there are some that are embarassing, such as the co-written track with Paul McCartney, 'The Girl is mine.'

Tales From Topographic Oceans vs. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

There is no question that i would choose `The Lamb', since one of of my first threads here was a review about the album. Having said that, Topographic Oceans is an album I have grown to love. It is an overwhelming album due to the sheer size and scope of it. The lyrics are diffuse, but they can...

In The Court Of The Crimson King vs. Godbluff

The Crimson King rules!!! That album is a mindblower twenty one years after first hearing it. It`s somewhat downbeat and depressing, but an all -time classic. And any album that features the vocal talents of Greg Lake is always high on my list.

Close To The Edge vs Thick As A Brick

Re: Close To The Edge vs. Thick As A Brick Hello lads and lassies; long time its been , hasn`t it? For me, it has to be Close To the edge, possibly the greatest prog album, IMO. Pefection personified and gorgeous to booth. All three tracks are oustanding, but 'And You and I bowls me over the...

ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer (Official Thread)

Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer Also to add, before recording this album, ELP had done a year`s work of world touring, mostly to make up for the monetary losses incurred by the use of the orechestra at the outset of the 'Works' tour. By the time they were set to record this, they were burned...

ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer (Official Thread)

Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer ^MP, I have mixed reviews about 'Love Beach.' While far from their best work, it isn`t as bad as it`s detractors would allege. I truly hold the distinction for ELP`s worst album to be 'In The Hot Seat(1994). The frist side of Love Beach were a bunch of...

Genesis' Selling England by the Pound

Well, Joe, as a Genesis fan, I do rate it very highly. It`s in my top 5 of Genesis albums ,but not my No.1 choice. I reserve that for the Lamb, which I have written about in the albums thread. . It is definitely one of Genesis` more progressive efforts. What is very appealing to me is that the...

    Happy Birthday Stout!

Well, laddies and lassies, this took me by surprise. This was totaly unnecessary for a scrub such as myself, since I`m not here often. The reasons for that are long work hours and some personal matters on the side. But it`s greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!! Yesterday was a great day shared...

    Nearfest, anyone??

Re: Neafest, anyone?? Day 3 June 20Th: I still wasn`t feeling 100%, but I was going to make the most out of my hard-earned dough. So I gamely braved another day of hit or miss. Moraine- They are from Seattle. It`s hard to classify thier music. I would say it bordered on jazz, space jamming...

    Nearfest, anyone??

Re: Neafest, anyone?? June 19th, Day 2: I don`t sleep well in hotels, so it`s no surprise I only received three hours sleep. Was I still pumped up from Hackett`s performance? Astra- The San Diego band were the first act to take the stage at 11:00 AM, and needless to say, it was way too...

    Nearfest, anyone??

Re: Neafest, anyone?? I`m back, so here is my review; Day 1, June 18th: Riverside- It was not worth the trouble to bolt down my food I had at this excellent Italian resturaunt located in Downtown Bethlehem. Riverside are from Poland, and their music was mostly metallic riffs married with some...

    Pink Floyd - Favorite Song?

Re: Favorite Pink Floyd Song Pink Floyd was a band I was not enthused about on first listens, but they have grown on me. Roger waters is truly a great songwriter and David Gilmour added musicality to his vision. There are so many I could choose, but one stands out for me is 'Mother' form 'The...
