    Judas Priest (Official Thread)

I'll be honest, I didn't think Rob was as good as he was on Epitaph during RITE, however the setlist is the best I think I've seen Priest ever do since the early 1980s, if they'd got Heading Out to the Highway in there then it would be perfect. Love that they pulled out some really old-school...

    Judas Priest (Official Thread)

Yeah, they did one for Rocka Rolla which was eventually left out, I heard it a long time ago but can't remember where. It might be included on some of the compilations that Gull Records released. Edit - here ciP2_XAeO5w Vocals more akin to Rocka Rolla and SWOD than the Screaming for...

    Judas Priest (Official Thread)

Just clicked onto that one a way in at 1:42 and the riff sounded an absolute carbon copy of Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top. Edit - I should add I know that Eliminator had a huge bearing on the direction Priest took with Turbo.

The videos they did for the Point of Entry album are brilliant - Heading Out to the Highway is them in a room with a desert and lonesome highway painted on it, plus some stuff at a racing track; Don't Go involves KK walking down a corridor full of rabbits, Glenn running over shadowy ghost people...

    Judas Priest (Official Thread)

... And one more (final!) post on that video. It has pissed me off a bit. It's your typical 'OMG I love Judas Priest, Painkiller da best!' musing. Priest have done some truly amazing songs over the years, some of which the video recognises, like BTROD and Victim of Changes and, to be fair...

Hang on, according to that video Living After Midnight is one of Glenn's best solos. That is a grave dishonour to, for starters, BTROD, Painkiller, Electric Eye and Dreamer Deceiver. Living After Midnight's solo is average at best.

    Judas Priest (Official Thread)

Agreed. If you took into account musical composition, complexity and skill above listenability then it would be a much better list. How on earth do you justify putting Living After Midnight above Victim of Changes and Beyond the Realms of Death?!

    Favourite Metal Drummers.

Ian Paice - good solid drummer who's been through it all with Deep Purple and never got the recognition he deserves. Les Binks - the best drummer Judas Priest ever had. Exciter is one of my favourite songs ever and was really ahead of its time (1978). Bit hard to pick out the drums on the video...

Tony Iommi All For Tom Jones Collaboration

Indeed, from what I can gather from Iommi's excellent autobiography, the move and wage he was offered with Jethro Dull was made as though it was some great privilege and he should be honoured to take it, whereas Tony wanted to be an equal entity and knew he could make it on his own with his old...

    Judas Priest (Official Thread)

As one might be able to gather from the fact they have support, the time Priest will be onstage is being cut down according to an interview with Ian Hill (yes, he can speak apparently!) to 105 mins, down from 140 mins on Epitaph and roughly the same as their Angel of Retribution tour. I hope as...

    Alestorm (Official Thread)

Indeed. It's wonderful to see them on stage with their own minibar in front of the drummer and the keyboardist knocking back a good few bottles of beer getting progressively more drunk :gig They also at the concert they filmed in Melbourne a year or two ago made the crowd split down the centre...

Have you ever become obsessed with an album that changed you socially

The Eagles's Desperado gave me a huge interest in the American West that I still have, but that's about it. Never been changed socially mind, it tends more to be songs or certain lines that get me through when I'm down.

    Alestorm (Official Thread)

Love, love, loooooooove Alestorm. They brighten me up no matter what mood I'm in and have some genuinely good songs (Captain Morgan's Revenge, Keelhauled), and a nice amount of catchy basic yet fun numbers (Nancy the Tavern Wench, Drink). They have a new album out on Friday 01 August called...
