Best album of the 90s? (with bonus Radiohead discussion)

Up- R.E.M. an overlooked masterpiece. Sadly Mike Mills does not agree. I met Mike at an undisclosed location and with beer in hand proclaimed UP to be a masterpiece. He started laughing and said "thanks, but it is not a masterpiece." Yes well. I still think so.

    Bob Mould-Workbook Sinead O'Connor- I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got

    Sean Lennon

Sean is just a little bit too artsy-fartsy indie rock for me. I prefer Julian and think his half brother deserved better.

Most Overrated Bands of the 90's

Re: Most Overated Bands of the 90's :oyea: :oyea::oyea::oyea::oyea: In my history of being online and also including reading comments in various forms of print media, this is the most outrageous, absurd, and ludicrous comment I have ever come across! There is not much more I can...

    Foreigner - Double Vision (1978)

Re: Foreigner ~ Double Vision (1978) Some of the songs may be sappy as you say, but they had an edge to them. Foreigner 4 truly started the band's transition into sappy territory.

1 Hit Wonders Of The 80's

Stan Ridgeway was in Wall Of Voodoo. He made a few other tunes that no one paid attention too, except for just a few of us.

1 Hit Wonders Of The 80's

David and David - Boomtown is one of the best one hit wonder tunes ever made. It is absolutely brilliant!

    Any Fans of The Replacements?

One of the most pivotal and underappreciated bands of the era. They were the punk rock Stones. Westerberg also was and is now a great lyricist.

    The Call

    Walls Came Crumbling Down.

Artists/bands that saved the 80s from total oblivion

The negative reaction to disco was racially and homophobically motivated. REM, U2, The Police, The Violent Femmes, Husker DU, The Replacements, and others were all signifigant contributors to a great decade!

    The Call

They have a song out that applies to our economic situation. It is one of the most prophetic songs ever made. Blew me away when I heard it months ago, and I put it in my I-pod.

Most Overrated Album Of The 80s

It certainly was not the worst, but definitely nothing special. At liked it when I was before I knew any better. Years later I heard the Only Time Will Tell song and had a moment of clarity.
