^^^^^^^ I'm glad you contributed to this thread.. Your there in Ireland and I grew up in Southern and Northern California from the 60's to the late 80's where most radio station played a mix of music..
But it's interesting how you come up with artist I've never heard but still some good stuff that I like..
Please keep them coming..

It's not everyone's cup of tea on this forum to jump into soul and funk music.. But alot of rock groups were inspired by soul music and put it to rock so... Thanks Nai.. for your input..

BTW.. I have a LP collection of over 6.000 LP's and a shit load of cassettes and CD's that I've made from favorite songs that I listen to daily.
There is so much prior music that has vanished and has been forgotten because music keeps evolving..

Keep Rockin.. and keep grooving..

Ok Southern Comfort..81 likes for Timmy Thomas..what a nugget!
I grew up in Nottingham ..the last of four Brothers..so i was as a nipper weaned on Sabbath, Faust, MC5 and back again!
I must admit reading about and listening to Stones music aroused all my 'receptors'
For instance i went to see Led Zeppelin in 1979...because the New Barbarians supported them.
Ron Wood- Keith Richards- Stanley Clarke and Zigaboo Modeliste from The Meters.
Cabbage Alley caught my eye in a 99 cent bargain bin..still spinning it today.
Parliament and Stax stuff is a great access point for springboarding further.
Then i heard lots of similarities in Southern Rock music...that carried me beyond the brilliant Lynyrd Skynyrd to Zydeco, swamp , chitlin and JJ.Cale.
Lovely to hear a guy on the same journey.
And it goes on in this Family now..WolfMother, Santana or Lamb Of God come from my Daughters bedroom.
Here's a groove track perfect for driving these piss wet irish roads-ian.
The Meters - Middle Of The Road.

WOW!! A band out of New Orleans.. with many a good influence of big names like Dr. John and Robert Palmer..
I like the slight progressive jazz feel to that tune.. It reminds me a Frankie Beverly's MAZE band..
Well cool info on you.. I'm the only boy in my family but coming from both parents families, I have 27 cousins that range in age which put's me in a good place as far as the older ones turned me onto some great music..
Plus a few of them were very talented musicians so it was fun hanging out listening to their bands.
I play a little Bass and drums when I have time..
Thanks again for some great new tunes your adding..

How are you with the band WAR?? Eric Burton at the start and then they went on to be a big hit in Cal.
War - Slippin Into Darkness

And one of my favorite bands who I had the chance to see onstage at the November Jam which was the prelude to the Cal Jam I and II which was at the Ontario motor speedway which was a HUGE outdoor all day long concert that had big names performing..

Oh yeah!!
Joe Tex- so much more than 'i ain't gonna bump' which i like.
War are so bad-ass - Eric got a re-newed respect for that move..almost topping Chas Chandlers Hendrix connection.
Bought this from a junk store a few years back..amongst battered Sodastreams and skateboards.

Willie Bobo - Evil Ways.
