Classic debut album and the first piece of the Aerosmith puzzle that makes up the classic albums [IMO] from this debut to Night in the Ruts.

Saw them do Mama Kin at Donington. Nearly cried I was so happy.

We have exactly the same dividing line when it comes to where the 'Classic Aerosmith' line is drawn. (nyuk nyuk nyuk)

Their albums after NITR all have moments of Classic Aerosmithness, but those first 6 studio albums, along with Bootleg, define Aerosmith. To me, anyhow.

Oh, and on a side note, I too, nearly cried from joy,at the Baltimore Civic Center, in either the very late 70s or very early 80s, when the boys came out for their 2nd. encore and tore the place down with the Milk Cow Blues

I just got goosebumps just writing about.

but I don't see that much difference in his voice how about anyone else?

Yes, I do. I got into Aerosmith in the late 80's, so with "Permanent vacation" and "Pump". So I obviously worked my way back and listening to this one, at first I thought it was a woman singing (I kept thinking it sounded like Heart - bear in mind I was only just starting to listen to rock music and I only knew 1980's Heart).

It sounds odd now, but at the time it sounded like quite a different voice.

Having said that, if I had to pick just one Aerosmith album, this would be the one. It doesn't have the greatest songs, but the swagger and the energy is unlike any of their other - great - records.

Mama Kin and Movin' Out are my favorites on this one, but I can still easily listen to the entire album. As far as being labeled a Stones clone, that is not necessarily a bad thing. They were a good Stones clone in a sea of bad ones. This album is a great debut, and I would say to say it is in my top half of the 6 classic 70s albums.

After years of consideration this may be my favorite Aerosmith album.
I know it's not a common sentiment but this album just stands the test of time for me.
It's between this and Rocks and sadly I've burned out on Rocks.

It's a toss up for me between Rocks and Get Your Wings as my favorite. However, I've listened to those albums soooooo much I'm kinda tired of them.

Lately, Nine Lives has been getting quite a bit of attention in my playlist. I have been enjoying the mix of different styles in that album.:grinthumb

Nine Lives is still high up in my top 5 Aerosmith albums closely contesting with self titled debut.

Glad to hear that, Riffy. Taste of India is the highlight of that album for me. ;). unique song for Aerosmith. I like it when a band tries a music style uncharacteristic for them.
