They definitely sold a lot of units...how many were bought by mmainstream fans is another story.

I can only remember The Headbangers Ball playing videos after midnight.And then theyvstarted getting some rotation on the regular MTV hours but then so did bands like Megadeth, Danzig, Ministry etc. ....I don't consider Pantera mainstream no matter how much they sold....theres a lot of metalheads around. When they all or the majority dig something it could move some units. Black Sabbath had platinum albums but were never what I consider mainstream. When ever someone gets popular there are followers who jump on the band wagon though. I get that..No radio station played Pantera were I live, though.

More underground stations should troll the shit out of their audience and play Metallica's Load entirely.

Some of the songs are OK but nothing I want out of Metallica.

It is a pair of albums that created very mixed reactions but they grew on me. In the end too many people probably expected Metallica at the time to keep doing thrash metal.
