I Can't Dance was definitely one funny video! :heheh: Loved it when it came out on MTV. That whole album is pretty good. I like it.

yeah, he did a few different goofy story-type vids with Genesis too. Of course, many of the Genesis "purists" seem to hate that period with the band, but it's the stuff that I grew up with, so I don't mind it at all and prefer it over the more progish stuff they did.

Exactly!! That is why I love it too! That is why I will never understand why many people prefer Gabriel Genesis so vehemently to Collins Genesis. Oh well. To each their own. :grinthumb

I had no idea peter gabriel EVER sang in Genesis
:D I've only known Genesis with Phil Collins in it couldnt imagen them with any other singer. As far as his solo career... was not very impressed by his "hits" album I never liked his solo career at all really untill I heard songs like "Dont loose my number" "Dont care any more" neither of wich are on the "Hits" album for some reason wich doesnt make sense to me the only two songs I liked that from the "hits" album was "In the air tonight" and "Another day in paradice" was okay. Deffenatly liked Genesis much better.

There is a certain snobbish attitude about being a hard core Genesis fan. It is 'the done thing' to loudly and regularly state that the Peter Gabriel era was Genesis at their best. But how many of those people were actually buying the albums in the early '70s when the band was skint? Obviously both Gabriel and Genesis went onto bigger things after a parting of the ways.

If you like prog you would like Early Genesis with Garbriel and company. JTG does make a good point, they never came close to enjoying the commercial success that Banks, Rutherford and Collins did when they took the band down a more accessible road. And there is nothing wrong with that, some later Genesis songs could easily have found a home on the early albums they weren't all aimed at being commercial or hit singles.

If you want to check out early Genesis RRPC, then I would suggest Selling England By The Pound, an excellent album.

How did you find Collins' re-make of the Beatles' "Revolver" piece "Tomorrow Never Knows".I never heard it all the way through, but what I DID hear sounded quite interesting."Never Knows" is DEFINITELY not an easy song to cover, like "Strawberry Fields" or "I Am THe Walrus"(Though Gary Wright and Spooky Tooth's version certainly sparked some interest with me)

^^I don't remember that cover either HGH, but generally I prefer originals to covers with some notable exceptions of course.
