Am I the only person who pretty much hates Metallica?

Even their classic thrash albums from the 80s I find absolutely boring, and I love Thrash! Still I've never once made from beginning to end with Ad justice for all. Also there new stuff is just embarrassing.

I've got to admit I don't own either of those albums. I have listened to them though and I'm glad I didn't buy them. Lulu is awful. Don't care though - still love Metallica :cheers2

For me, I'd rank 4 of their first 5 albums as quintessential metal albums.

Binge and Purge is outstanding, one of the best live albums of all time (metal or otherwise)

Load and REload were a change in direction but are both solid.

Symphony is pretty cool with a metal band mixing it up with an orchestra.

Garage Days has some good covers and some weaker covers.

St Anger is garbage. 1.5 good songs and that's about it. Worst drum sound in the history of metal. Lulu is the most embarrassing thing Metallica has ever done and that says a lot considering they put out St Anger. Death Magnetic is decent. Not good, not great, not bad either.

The best bands are capable of putting out bad albums.

Metallica's early work is quintessential thrash metal and some of the best metal of all time.

The albums others have mentioned, Lulu & St. Anger are not good at all, but Metallica have chosen to progress, as opposed to Megadeth, where Dave has chosen to stay with a specific sound & style.

Again I find the first four albums with the exception of Ride the lightning to be absolutely boring. Also I can respect progression but not stupidity. I don't consider the big four to be the height of quality in thrash metal. Lately Ive seen them as nothing more than gateway bands.
