I think this one of the coolest most useful chords. Once I learned it I noticed it everywhere. Also known as the Jimi Hendrix chord as it’s the main chord in Purple Haze. It’s used after the pentatonic riff in The James Gang’s Funk #49. And that’s one of the best things about it. It’s great as a transition. Blackmore used it extensively after citing Hendrix as an influence (that blaring chord in No One Came from 1971’s Fireball album) and put it to great use in Deep Purple MK III when they dabbled with funk. It sounds awesome muted and coupled with a wah pedal. I think what I like about it is it sounds dirty and raw for lack of a better term.
Any other players share my affinity for this chord?

its a scale, its basically a condensed version of a major scale or minor scale depending on the notes played, a lot of blues rock uses it, with your progressive rock you get a lot of major scales and minors being moved all around the guitar, basically the same, they just have more notes in them, and the only time I ever really uyse the chord is when I play "Funk # 49" lol

when i used to teach guitar lessons, I had a student who was 7 years old he could plat penationic scale flawlessly. It blew my mind

i was so jealous of him. a couple years later he could play cliffs of dover start to finsish flawlessly!
