Seeing as the word best is subjective I will go with Megadeth Countdown to Extinction of 1992 since I think the title implies after 1990.

It had a daunting task of following up the best thrash album ever in Rust In Peace and for the direction it took I think this is as good a metal album as the likes of Painkiller, Black Album, Vulgar Display etc with more of a groove to it as opposed to break neck speed. Has some memorable songs like High Speed Dirt, Skin O My Teeth, Architecture of Aggression, Captive Honour.

I choose Brave New World (2000) by Iron Maiden. With Priest's "Painkiller" (1990) and "Candlemass" (2005) on a prize places.

Ah cool. Than I would have gone for Rust In Peace but I think Countdown deserves a little praise too.
