"Smoke on the Water" is of course the riff that tops all other riffs. Other I would include would be "Sweet Child O' Mine", "Iron Man", "I Love Rock 'N Roll", "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"

Also I would want to include "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "Crazy Train" but they just missed the cut.

Good point, I'd put Sunshine in for Enter Sandman. The rest of the OP is right on!

enter sandman has crossover appeal to people who dont even listen to rock. The song is played so much at arenas and statdiums at sporting events. Enter Sandman will also crossover to more generations IMO. I like the sunshine riff more than the enter sandman riff though

Good list bit I think that Johnny B. Goode or Day Tripper may belong there

I agree with those first three, but after that I can't be sure. Someone mentioned Sweet Child O' Mine, and I'd have to agree with that. Then I guess the last (imo) would be Layla by Derek & The Dominoes

Absolutely!

No it's not. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by the Rojjing Stones is probably the most recognizable guitar riff of all time and it's not even on the list. In fact, I don't think any of the tracks on the list would even be played on oldies stations while "Satisfaction" is played on both classic rock and oldies stations.

I agree. "Layla" is far more recognizable than either "Smells like Teen Spirit" or "Enter Sandman".

I agree with Foxhound here..."Satisfaction" DEFINITELY makes the list...probably at least top two or three anyway.
