Hello everyone! I am brand new here and this is my very first post. I figured there would be no better way to make my first post than to do it on one of my all time favorites - Jackson Browne. I used the search function and did not see a thread on him already (surprisingly!).

I suppose this could have been put into the 60's category, as he first started his career in 1966, but he didn't really hit his stride until the 70's with his self-titled album.

I recently saw Jackson perform at the Paramount Theater in Denver, CO. and was absolutely stunned to hear how great he still is after nearly 50 years of singing. His voice was a tiny bit raspy, but man he sounded just as good as ever and he hit every note.

His concerts are very unique, as they are more of an experience than a concert. If I had to put it into words, I would say it's kind of like hanging out with your cool grandfather who has experienced all kinds of things in his life, and now you just want him to let you in and tell you everything.

He shares stories of his past, things that have influenced him and his songs, and really makes you feel like he genuinely loves what he does and hasn't become jaded by being in the limelight. He is one of those performers who you can tell would still be doing this same thing even if he wasn't getting paid for it.

He comes across as an extremely soulful, genuine, passionate artist who weaves stories through his lyrics that are both celebrations of life and poignant reminders of some of the tougher times.

Throughout his life Jackson has been through an immense amount of joy, pain, suffering, and just about any other emotion you can name. The fact that he used these experiences and created songs out of them is a true testament to his beautiful soul.

One of my favorite things about Jackson is that during his shows, he doesn't seem like he is some closed off celebrity who thinks he is better than everyone else. He wants the audience to join him in the journey that is his music, and he leaves his heart out there on the stage. Simply put... He has fun.

He also doesn't stick to a strict set list, and will play what the audience wants to hear. Any Jackson Browne concert wouldn't be complete without the many of his fans who yell out their favorite songs. His set list morphs with the crowd's requests, and that is another reason why all of his shows are a unique experience.

i rarely come across anybody who likes his music. I do, very much. I grew up hearing his hits on the radio but never gave a crap. I wasn't into music and lyrics that came from the heart, just from the *****, ya know what I mean. But now in my mid 40's I really get his music. He was a very wise person for his age back in the 70's, I think his soul is actually older than his human years. I've never said that about any musician or artist before but I believe he is. If I ever met him I'd probably tell him that, that the music he made in his 20's was way ahead of his years.

I think I discovered his music about 4 years ago and I now have about 6 vinyl LP's and a greatest hits CD of his. I actually feel like my life is a little bit more blessed for enjoying his music. Is that kinda corny or what?

Definitely lost track of Jackson Browne over the decades, didn't know he was still actively recording/touring either.

Hold Out is the album I play the most, followed by Running On Empty.

First song of his I ever heard was "Doctor My Eyes", on our old AM radio. He's been around a long long time.

Didn't he have a serious illness for a while? :( I love Running On Empty, especially when I'm driving long distance. :D
