My most expensive concert started out being not very expensive at all. I think it was 1999 when I treated two friends to seeing The Mcoy Tyner Trio at Blues Alley in DC. Now, the tickets themselves weren't really cheap (I think high 20s or low 30s) but that isn't what sapped my wallet. I drink pretty fast and ordered beer after beer and even the occasional whiskey because the show was really good. I kept asking the waitress what my tab was and she kept avoiding the question so by the time the show ended I had something like a $200 bar tab.
I thought the two guys understood when I lambed out of there but to my horror I looked behind me and neither was following. I went back in to 'face the music' and got to stand there and hear Tyner's drummer call us 'kids' in disgust when he walked by. I found that weirdly amusing but boy did the money loss hurt.
I have never been back to Blues Alley even though some very cool acts have been.
The Stones in Indianapolis for the Steel Wheels concert cost a pretty penny.....cant remember the exact amount but I can remember bitching about the cost.
Another one that hit the wallet pretty heavy was seeing Trans Siberian Orchestra..........tickets were like $125 USD a piece.
