It’s hard out there for a replacement drummer. Just ask Eric Singer, who’s got a job most musicians would envy — pounding the skins for Kiss — but one that comes with a few occupational hazards, like having to hear the constant complaining of fans who wish the band’s original lineup would get back together.

“The people that want to complain about ‘I don’t like this,’ or ‘I don’t like that,’ ‘They should play this song,’ or ‘I only want the original band…’ The bottom line is: this is how Kiss exists right now, in 2013,” he pointed out during a recent interview.

Continued Singer, who’s been in and out of the lineup since 1992, “Be glad there’s some version of Kiss and that we’re out there touring. We have just as much passion and case just as much as the band ever did or ever could. That’s what counts. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be here. I mean, Gene [Simmons] and Paul [Stanley] don’t need the money; they don’t need to do this. They do it because they love doing it.”

And not only is Singer not putting any stock in fans’ carping, he also sounds like he isn’t worried about Simmons’ recent pronouncement that the band might call it quits in 5-10 years. “Everybody wants to ask what’s going on tomorrow,” he shrugged. “Well, what about today? You don’t necessarily know what’s going to happen in the future. But one thing’s for sure: we’re here today and we’re going to put on a great show. I’m not saying don’t have to think about tomorrow – but you can’t worry about tomorrow. Just live one day at a time, try to learn to live in the moment.”

I was never a big Peter Criss fan to begin with, but I can see Singer getting tired of the same old same old from die hard fans.

I agree with his philosophy about things too, enjoy the moment you are in don't worry about things that haven't happened yet.

Peter Criss studied under Gene Krupa and on the early albums this was evident. They never had a drummer or singer who fit nearly as well since Criss' departure. But they aren't even making music I care about anymore so more power to them.

Agree with everything. Criss absolutely slayed the skins.

I thought Peter, if anything gave the band a unique style that they don't have any longer. Eric is a better drummer in many ways and the band is thunderous, but it doesn't have that original snappy pizazz.

See Ringo Starr for reference to this. :grinthumb

Gene is getting old.............eventually he will retire.

I just love all the drama this band comes up with. Evidently, the fans 'carping' does bother Singer. :wa

He should know by now that people love to have an opinion, especially if the opinion is negative. People love to talk smack!

It's not even about him in the band OR his ability as a drummer. I still love them and LOVE the show. Tommy and Eric do a great job, but wearing the other guys' make up, IMO. is just awkward to look at still :bonk:

Eric, if you were allowed to wear your own make-up, or the band was back to none at all, I'd bet almost anything that you wouldn't hear half the complaining that you're complaining about now.

...and Tommy's face is just too scrunchy for Ace's makeup...

Ace wore it,not only with more detail but it all seemed bigger in design

I had no problem with Peter's drumming, even though I didn't know he was tutored by Gene Krupa one of the best ever. I have to say I don't like "Beth",,,sorry KISS Army but that's the truth and Peter's biggest claim to fame in the band.
