Re: .38 Special

This band formed in 1974 by Donnie Van Zant, brother of lead singer for Skynyrd, Ronnie Van Zant. They have a sound very similar to Skynyrd but combining more area rock into their music which is evidenced by their sucess in the 80's.

I would suggest getting 4 of their albums: Rockin' Into the Night, Wild Eyed Southern Boys, Special Forces, and Tour de Force. These are all excellent albums.

Ditto on those four releases! I would add/recommend another, too, 'Special Delivery'

(the release just prior to Rockin' Into The Night) which has some excellent songs on it. I recently listened to this one, and realized that you can hear the progressions of the exceptional song writing and future excellent material that followed it, imo.

Great band, they had the southern swampy style, but they could pump out a good pop-y tune as well **Hold On Loosely**

Wild Eyed Southern Boys is my favorite album, Special Delivery, then Rockin' Into The Night

I don't know if I could choose three favorite songs hmm....

Re: .38 Special

I love 38 Special...I felt like I got pretty close to them as I've been to Jim Peterik's home (Survivor/Ides of March) and he wrote Hold On Loosely and Caught Up In You for them.

He had a Gold (and I believe platinum) award of Special Forces on his wall along with Eye of the Tiger and all that.
