Actually ZZ Top did have some line-up changes. The original line-up way Billy F. Gibbons, Lanier Greig & Dan Mitchell. Lanier Greig was replaced by Billy Etheridge, who would later bt replaced by Dusty Hill. Dan Mitchell would be replaced by Frank Beard. Now the line-up of Billy, Dusty & Frank are the only ZZ Top line-up to have recorded a full legnth album together as Billy, Lanier & Dan only recorded some singles together.

I didn't realize that either, I just assumed the original line-up was Billy, Dusty and Frank.

Still haven't got a copy of La Futura...I want to listen to it first before buying it. If it's like Eliminator then I'll pass, if it's like Tres Hombres/Tejas/Deguello then I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

To me, it was between the two styles; not terrible, but not great.

I think you might like it. Plenty of that album reminded me of their classic blues sound. I didn't think of it along the lines of Eliminator.

I listened to one song off of La Futura, and that was the first track. It was pretty good, except I didn't care for the guys voice. Still, I'm probably going to get it.

Glad I picked up that 5 disc collection even though I gave my friend Eliminator. Started getting into Rio Grande Mud first. Really cool bluesy sound.
I like Just Got Paid.

Apologies to Pearly too.

I like Eliminator, but Afterburner was not nearly as good and after that I stopped following the band.

Speaking of classic albums, I played Tejas last night(my vinyl record) and will never cease to be impressed with that album. I'm not a guitarist but from the little I've read about it Tejas was Billy Gibbons tribute to the Les Paul sound of an electric guitar.

Deguello and Tejas and Tres Hombres are my essential ZZ Top albums all three are excellent.

I agree on Afterburner. That was the weakest easily I have heard from them. Wasn't crap but just didn't do that much for me.
Didn't touch any of the classic stuff before it.

Finished listening to Tres Hombres last night and that was quite an enjoyable album but still not my favourite.
