Dave Matthews brought the band together in 1991, the year I was born. From my early teen years, I developed a strong love for this progressive rock band. In listening to “Ants Marching” on the radio, I instantly felt the urge to buy a CD. The first album I listened to was Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds live at Luther College and ever since hearing this two man acoustic performance, I was hooked. I crush on Dave Matthews to this day. He brilliantly plays the guitar and the lyrics he writes are awe inspiring. I can’t help, but be a dreamer. He appears to be an intellectual guy and that’s what matters most. Songs that I play frequently would include the notorious “Crash into Me”, “Grey Street”, “Two Step”, “Too High”, and “Best of What’s Around”.
Btw, RIP Saxophone player Leroi Moore. Check out the band’s latest album: Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. I like “shake me like a monkey” and “seven” from this. Let me know if you like.
Obsessed,
Christina

I like the Jazzy feel of DMB. I dont own any CD's, though. I like these two songs:

I wouldn't classify them as progressive. They are more alternative than anything else. They dont have the depth and complexity that prog bands have.

I had tickets to see them at Timberwolf two summers ago. Well, Timberwolf is a part of the Kings Island amusement park, and we ditched the concert and stayed in the park and rode the rides. The concert was horrible!!!

Yeah that's what I'd say too. As soon as I saw thing in the progressive section I though "Wait.....The Dave Matthews Band is progressive? Since when?"

I've heard a good number of songs by them but I don't care for them. Not my cup of tea I suppose.

Yeah I see your point Magic, but they can be considered like progressive alternative. Some of their songs use elements of progressive structuring, not to say that they’re anywhere near comparable to say Rush. Typically, they show existentialism and you can hear complex chords in a lot of their songs. Their lyrics are also powerful in that they don’t follow the ordinary musical themes. Wow, I guess I’m alone on this.

One of the bands that college new age hippies ruined for me at the time they were big. Their best c.d. in my opinion is
