First thing to mention was that Steve Tucker would do his first album with the band as bass and vocalist.

Sound wise there was an evident and much better difference in favour of this over Domination. The production was much more raw and what death metal should be instead of the sterile sound of the previous album. Stylistically this had a nice mix of slower tempo songs with the usual neck breaking speed of other songs.

Guitar work from Trey was again top notch stuff, much better sound on this album especially in his solos. Elements of progression in some of these songs especially the 9 minute song Invocation of the Continual One which shows a bit more depth to his abilities as a guitar player.

Pete Sandoval at his usual best on the drums with some of the best blast beats he is known for, the drum sound was really good on this album.

Steve Tucker I think was pretty damn good both on the bass and vocals, he seemed to bring a bit more of a typical death metal style vocal which to me was better than what Vincent did on Domination by a long shot.

Summing up the music on the album it has a bit of variety in tempo, a few little intro type songs with sound effects on them but in terms of the regular songs this was a return for me after my disappointment in the lack of consistency of Domination. This album sounded much more like a death metal album to me of consistency.

Couple of my favourite songs.
Invocation of the Continual One

Great Review. I been following Morbid Angel since the beginning. This is one of my favourite albums by the band

Yeah I dig this album a lot. Was far superior to the over rated Domination.
