Dystopia is an unbelievable good album, best Iced Earth album since… hm… Dark Saga? I’m saying this because their latest efforts were very poor IMO. After some mediocre albums with Tim Owens the return of Barlow on The Crucible of Man was even worse because of the great expectations I had. But now it seems that Schaffer has found the lost inspiration together with the new vocal. Stu Block is a very good replacement, I hear in his voice a Barlow/Owens mix that fits very well the Iced Earth sound.

Good cuts their b.o.b. I like the new CD alot on this end.

Although I didn't dislike the Ripper albums as a couple of my brothers here did. I liked the last Barlow as well...but Dystopia is pretty phenomenal!!!

I'm kind of in between the two of you on this matter. I'm not overly found of Rippers effort on either release but think that his second try was an improvement. I liked the last Barlow effort but do think that Dystopia is the best thing Iced Earth has done since Horror Show. Dystopia is one of my top picks of the year.

I also agree that Ripper's second album was indeed the better of the two :grinthumb

Although I'm a HUGE fan of Gettysburg, no matter who sang it! Love the piece and the DVD!!!

Here is some nice piano work in...

Heard the new album earlier, the first I have really heard properly of Iced Earth and it was an enjoyable album. Dystopia has some killer tracks.

Wow guys. A year?

America's best Power Metal Export, & were fronted by the greatest Metal vocalist I've ever heard, Matt Barlow.

Dude, you need Alive In Athens. Has all the best of their older material.

Agreed. Quite a bit better than the last 3.

Alive in Athens is one of the best live CD's in my collection, and it's stunningly well produced/engineered as well as kicking ass performance wise. Usually I'm not a big fan of live albums, but this one gets 2...no 3 thumbs up from me.
